Why Choose Training While Boarding?

Board and Train Services

Boarding and training programs are a great option for dog owners seeking effective training for their dogs on an accelerated timeline. This option offers a structured and immersive learning environment under the guidance of experienced dog training professionals, giving them focused attention and consistent training throughout their stay. Here's how we tackle tailoring our Board and Train program around your dog's needs:

When you apply, we contact you to evaluate the issues you are having with your dog and discuss the specific training you are seeking. The more we know about your pet, the better we can address your goals.

At the start of your training program, we review the training goals to make sure we are all on the same page, go over paperwork, and check your dog in so we can get started!

Over the next few days, we spend time evaluating and getting to know your dog.  We begin by teaching the dog our system using a clicker, so that your dog begins to associate the clicker with a positive reward (food).  This motivates your dog to engage in training and helps them bond with us.  As we teach your dog which behaviors result in rewards, your dog becomes eager and happy to work and offer those desired behaviors.

Our Board and Train Dog program typically lasts for three weeks.  However, because we are results based, we will work with your dog on your dog's timeframe.  This means that we may ask to keep your in the program for a few extra days to ensure it has mastered the course--all at no extra cost to you.  We want you to be satisfied with your pet's progess.  We may ask you to join us for training sessions, usually once or twice through the program, so that we can help you understand what your dog is learning and prepare you for future success at home.

When your pup's training is complete, we will spend time discussing everything your canine has discovered and exactly how to maintain it! Over the next four weeks, you will join us for once-a-week private lessons to ensure that you can maintain lasting results. You can also call us  at any point in in the future if you have any issues that crop up or need any refresher or advanced lessons. We want to support you and your pet, throughout the life of your pet.

PERKS OF BOARD AND TRAIN FOR DOGS

In our Board and Train programs we break down obedience training into three specific phases. In the first phase, we focus on teaching dogs heel position, sit, down, and come using positive reinforcement. Then, in the second phase, we incorporate leash pressure over those skills and begin proofing learned behaviors around distractions. Finally, the third phase involves layering an e-collar (remote collar) over the obedience for off leash reliability and high distraction proofing.

Each individual phase includes four private lessons following the boarding portion of the program, so I can make sure you know how to maintain the new training, use the equipment, and keep your dog’s skills sharp as we progress through the phases. These private lessons are just as important as the boarding portion, as training only works if you work it! If you prefer to go through all three phases at once, we would have you do 4 private sessions here before the boarding phase, then 4 sessions at your home after the boarding portion has been completed.
Doing it this way also discounts the total program cost $2500Board and train programs are great for owners who are looking for training on a more accelerated timeline, but still require a high level of owner commitment to learn how to maintain their dogs training skills.
