Our in home dog training sessions at your home are a great way to teach your dog important obedience skills, fix problem behaviors, and more. Southern Warrior K9 can help you and your family with professional, quality dog training at home.
Private dog training sessions take place at our training location, where you will attend weekly lessons to teach you how to train your dog from the ground up. This is a great option for dog owners who want to learn the ins and outs of dog training, with strict guidance from an experienced dog trainer. One-on-one lessons are great for motivated dog owners on a training budget.
Looking for dog training on an accelerated timeline? Boarding and Training programs allow your dog to live with a professional dog trainer, where they will receive daily training sessions to get them up to speed on advanced obedience skills quickly. Our board and train programs include follow up private lessons to train you how to train your dog, getting you results that last.
In-home lessons are private dog training sessions that take place at home! We offer ten-packs of in-home dog training, where your dog trainer will come to your home weekly to give you important training homework for you to follow. This is a fantastic option for puppies and adult dogs who need more personalized training repetitions or who have specific behavioral concerns.
At Southern Warrior K9, we believe quality dog training matters. Our main goal is to help dog owners improve their relationships with their dog through clear communication and advanced obedience training. Living with an untrained dog can be stressful, causes tension in the home, and can be embarrassing. If you've been struggling with making your dog the best dog they can be, let us help.
We can help with all of your dog training needs, from important pet manners (such as walking on leash without pulling, sit, stay, and coming when called) to specialty training (competition obedience, service dog training, personal protection training, and working dog needs). We keep our dog-to-trainer ratio small and focus on providing every client the individualized attention they deserve.
We offer a few different types of training programs to meet your budget and individual training needs. You can learn more about each program option here:

Board and Train for Dogs and Puppies
Private lessons are a budget friendly training option for dog owners who want to work hands on with their dogs and learn how to train them with the guidance of a professional dog trainer. These lessons take place at our facility, but we may also meet up in public spaces to work around distractions.
Dog training lessons at your home are a great option for training a dog where problem behaviors tend to occur most. The whole family can be involved in the training process, and in fact, it is encouraged!
Boarding and training programs offer faster results through overnight dog training, where your dog lives with their dog trainer for an extended period of time. We then do private lessons to teach everyone involved how to maintain the training skills.
All of our program options are available to dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes. We can help guide you into the right program through a training consultation, so give us a call today.
Absolutely! We love working with pets and pet owners, and in fact, the majority of our clients are regular people simply seeking to teach their dog or puppy obedience skills. Whether you own a Rottweiler or a Maltese, obedience training is an important part of dog ownership. We teach dogs critical life skills such as sit, stay, down, come (recall), and walking loosely on a leash (not pulling or dragging), as well as potty training and crate training. We believe that every dog should know these obedience skills and that your relationship with your pet will improve if your pet can understand how to better navigate the world!
Our board and train programs typically take 3-4 weeks where the dog stays with us followed up with 4 private lessons, The follow up lessons are super important. It is where we teach you, the handler, how to handle your dog, how to manage more difficult or problematic behaviors, and how to maintain their training (and protect your investment!) for life.
It is important to remember that dogs are living creatures, just like humans. Training a dog is not a "one and done" type of experience. For the best results, we recommend that dog owners work continually with their dogs to reinforce and practice training, throughout the dog's entire life. Just like a human can work out and become fit (or can quit going to the gym and lose progress), a dog can be taught obedience skills, but will likely regress to past behaviors if training is not maintained at home.
In addition to our boarding and training programs, we offer private lessons and in-home training for problem behaviors. Contact us and we can help you decide what type of training would best suit your needs. We would love to work with you!
Yes! We offer puppy training through our private lesson programs, in-home training lessons, and our board and train for puppies. Getting started early on can help prevent a lot of problem behaviors from developing, so we recommend reaching out for a consultation as soon as you get your new puppy for guidance.
We love to train our clients dogs and our personal dogs with advanced techniques, such as odor/scent detection, dog sport competition training, and alert/protection dog needs. Please keep in mind that not all dogs are capable or enjoy certain advanced level training and that some dogs may be better suited than others for certain tasks (i.e. your English Bulldog may not be capable of beating out a Greyhound in a race). We promise to work with you, taking into account your dog's unique personality and capabilities, to ensure that you can achieve your goals. More importantly, we promise to be honest with you about what your dog can and cannot achieve, and will not sell you on a training program if it is clear to us your dog is not capable of performing to the level that you desire.
We offer programs for various advanced training needs, including AKC Canine Good Citizen* certification, AKC Rally Obedience, competitive obedience, UKC nose work/AKC scent work, protection sports work, and working dog (police/military/detection/service) needs.
Absolutely, as long as your dog is able to complete our basic skills test we will advance the dog's training to meet your advanced dog training needs. With that said, if your dog has completed another training program with a trainer who uses a different system than ours, we may need to work with you and your dog to catch up on our training system methods first. Your dog needs to be able to fully understand our training system in order to be successful.
Dogs are great animals for helping people with their specialized needs. Emotional support is a well-behaved pet which provides affection, comfort, and support to its owner, often to help with anxiety or other emotional needs. A therapy dog requires more advanced training because it travels into a hospital, school, or other public settings in order to provide emotional support and comfort to the public. A service dog is a dog that provides its owner with a certain medically-necessary task or with daily living needs, such as a mobility assistance dog (helping with getting up/walking around/fetching items), seeing-eye dog (helping blind individuals to navigate the world), and an alert dog (diabetic alert), and which enjoys a protected status to accompany its owner in public under the law.** Dogs which provide emotional support and therapy dogs are not considered service dogs under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act.
That depends. Like all advanced training, some dogs are better suited to certain tasks than others. While every pet is special and unique, not every dog is capable of completing the advanced training necessary to be emotional support, therapy, or service dog. What we can do is be honest to you about what your dog is --and is not-- capable of. We also promise not to sell you on a "service dog" or similar certification, as there is no federally-recognized certification for service dogs at this time. In our opinion, anyone who attempts to sell you a certification to qualify your dog as a "service dog" is simply selling you a piece of paper.
If you want to train your dog to be an emotional support dog, therapy dog, or service dog, please contact us for an evaluation, so that we can determine if your dog possesses the skills necessary to complete advanced training. Our advanced training programs are geared to teach your dog to master the skills necessary to be calm, cool, and controlled in any public or private setting. We can also help you to procure a specialty dog to help you meet your needs.
That depends. Often what people view as "protective" behavior (such as barking at strangers, growling, or standing near you when others come near) is really insecurity. Your dog may be standing near you because it is actually hoping you will protect it from the stranger, or they may even be resource guarding you. Some trainers may sell you on a protection dog training program which simply scares your dog into being fearful of strangers. In our opinion, this is a dangerous tactic which can make your dog's behavior erratic and hard to control. We refuse to engage in this sort of fear-based "protection" training.
Most true protection dogs/guard dogs/police dogs are bred to have certain qualities which make them capable of performing true protection work, and most pets are not capable of being trained to be a true personal protection dog. However, we can teach your dog commands to help you meet your goals, such as to alert when a person comes to the door. If you think you may be interested in protection training with your dog, please contact us for an evaluation. We promise that we will be honest with you about your dog's ability to do protection work, or to help find you find a dog best suited to your needs.

"Brad from Southern Warrior K9 is truly a treasure trove of expertise! His guidance was invaluable in strengthening my bond with my working line German Shepherd. He excels at simplifying complex information and techniques, making them easily digestible. I'm deeply appreciative of the training sessions I had with him!"
"I worked with Brad @ southern warrior k9 multiple times, I will definitely be back. He worked with my dog koda and I on our relationship. At our first session I show cased that Koda knew his commands but didn't like to doing them.... it looked bad! After following Brad's training steps and advice, I'm now getting comments regularly about how happy, and amazing my pup is."
"So we had taken our puppy to numerous trainers in Tulsa with no luck. He is highly aggressive and honestly just wired that way. Brad did an amazing job teaching my the proper way to interact with an aggressive GSD, from play to training to eating. We have a much better dog now because of our weekly trips to train with Southern Warrior! Highly recommend!"

We have proven ourselves on the trial field at both the National and World Championship level and have a long history of getting dog owners the training results they need. Have you worked with other dog trainers in the past and still find yourself struggling? At Southern Warrior K9, we know there isn't a one-size-fits-all for dog training. That's why we offer a variety of training options to meet the needs of our clients, ranging from one-on-one private lessons, at your home, in public, or at our facility, to advanced board and train programs for dogs and puppies. Some owners want to be fully involved in the training process, learning how to train their own dogs under the guidance of a professional dog trainer. Other dog owners know that their time (or training ability) is too limited, and that's okay too! Either way, we'll make sure that we can help you and your dog live happier lives together through obedience training that is effective, fair, and easy to implement into your day-to-day home life.
We make sure to give you the resources that you need to succeed long-term with each of our program options. Our goal is to teach you how to better communicate with your dog, how to read their body language so you can tell when a mistake may be coming, and how to "think like a dog trainer" both at home and out in distracting locations that your dog may have struggled prior to professional training.
Our dog trainers have extensive professional experience, and are well-versed in tackling the following common behavioral problems:
